Vancouver Is Growing Fast. The Firms That Build That Growth Deserve a Brand to Match.

The Columbia River waterfront redevelopment has put Vancouver on a different trajectory. What was once a quiet city in Portland's shadow is becoming a destination in its own right, and the AEC firms building that future need to present themselves at that level.

The Vancouver Market

A city in the middle of a real transformation.

The Columbia River waterfront redevelopment is the most significant thing happening in Vancouver right now. A mixed-use district adding housing, offices, parks, and restaurants along the river — bringing thousands of residents and workers into the area and catalyzing development across the broader city. For AEC firms in Vancouver, it is both an opportunity and a signal: the market that existed here five years ago is not the market that exists today.

Vancouver has long operated in Portland's shadow, with firms here sometimes underestimating what their own market is becoming. That is changing. Development activity is rising, client expectations are rising with it, and the firms that are positioned clearly and present themselves professionally are the ones that are winning the work that comes with a growing city.

Fairbuilt works with Vancouver-area AEC firms that are ready to present themselves at the level their market and their work deserves.

Who We Work With

Vancouver and Clark County firms that typically partner with us.

We work with architecture firms, engineering firms, construction companies, and development firms across Vancouver and Clark County. The firms we tend to work best with are:

• Firms that are growing with Vancouver's market and want a brand that reflects that growth
• Firms that have established their reputation locally and are ready to compete for larger or more complex projects
• Firms entering the waterfront and downtown redevelopment market and needing positioning that signals credibility to new client types
• Firms navigating a leadership transition or ownership change in a market where long-standing relationships are everything
• Firms that look across the river at Portland studios and want to present themselves at the same level

What We Do

Brand Strategy, Identity, and Websites Built for Vancouver-Area AEC Firms

Our Capabilities
Our Capabilities
Strategy
Brand Strategy

We help Vancouver firms get clear on their positioning in a market that is evolving quickly. Who are you for, what makes you different, and how does your brand communicate that to the clients driving development in Clark County and across the metro? Strategy first, before any design or marketing investment.

Identity
Brand Identity

We design identity systems that position Vancouver firms as credible, professional, and ready for the work that a growing city brings. Not just a logo, a complete system that holds up across proposals, site signage, your website, and every client interaction.

Website
Design & Development

We build websites that give Vancouver AEC firms a digital presence that stands alongside the states best studios. Clear positioning, strong project presentation, and a site your team can manage and grow with the firm.

Why Fairbuilt

We are right across the river, so we know this market.

Fairbuilt is based in Portland, which means Vancouver is home territory for us. We understand the Portland-Vancouver metro as a single connected market. We know how Clark County firms compete for work on both sides of the river, how the development community in Vancouver thinks, and what it means to position a firm for a market that is mid-transformation rather than fully established.

Our founder, Brad Phillips, spent years in architecture practice before starting Fairbuilt. We bring real industry context to every project, not a generalist agency perspective that requires a long explanation of how AEC firms actually work.

FAQ

Answers to Common Questions

Should we position ourselves as a Vancouver firm or a Portland metro firm?

That depends on your goals and your existing client base. For most Vancouver firms, the answer is some version of both, grounded in Clark County and the local market, but credible and visible across the full metro. We work through that positioning question explicitly in our brand strategy process. It is one of the most important decisions a Vancouver firm can make.

We are a small firm. Is this the right investment for us?

Small firms in growing markets often have the most to gain from getting this right early. The firms that established strong positioning and a professional brand presence at the beginning of Vancouver's growth cycle are the ones that will be best positioned to grow with it. Waiting until you feel big enough is often waiting too long.

We mostly win work through local relationships and referrals. Why do we need a stronger brand?

Referrals are the foundation of most AEC firm growth, and they are hard to replace. But they have a ceiling. A strong brand and digital presence extend your reach beyond the people who already know you and into new project types, new client relationships, and new opportunities that referrals alone will not generate. It also reinforces your reputation when referred clients go online to vet you before they call.

How do your fees compare to Portland agencies?

We do not compete on price. We compete on specialization and results. What we offer is a strategic partner who understands the AEC industry specifically, not a generalist agency that will have to learn your world.
